Overview
After being interviewed by the guys at "RC Roundtable", they asked us to create a G4M Betty Bomber. I took on their challenge and here we are. The 13th Squadron G4M Betty Bomber has very scale flight characteristics being fast in a straight line, but slow roll rates like a real bomber. At level flight it cruises at about 40% throttle. The streamline shape gives the Betty very low drag, but has a very thick wing to give it lots of lift.
The real G4M Betty Bomber was well known for being very fast in a straight line. American pilots tried to shoot them down within their first attempt, because they knew they would outrun them if they didn't. However, with no self sealing fuel tanks, the American pilots often succeeded. This is also how the G4M Betty Bomber got its nickname; the flying cigar. The combination of the streamline shape, and tendencies to burst into flames gave the Betty its nickname.
One of the most innovative features of the Betty is it is the first swappable twin engine of 13th Squadron. On the plans you will find a drawing/image of how the swappable engines work. You will be able to have access to all of your wires and electronics if you need to service them. Along with the swappable engines, you have a removable bottom hatch. If you want to have a bomb bay, Ohka Bomb, or just closed bomb bay, you are able to choose what you see fit. Hope you enjoy building your 13th Squadron G4M Betty Bomber!
